ON THIS DAY: False Killer Whales Sharing 💙 We had such a special encounter with the #falsies today. They were swimming around slowly and calming without a care in the world in the same area that
5 Humpbacks were thrashing about! On our drop with them we saw them sharing a couple of fish amongst themselves. This tells me they are so intelligent and complex. I saw them group together while one maneuvered the fish from one side of its mouth to the other so his friend could help delicately and purposely halve the fish and then pass it about. Another one kept a fish whole and also shared that about. Their squeaks and clicks (vocalization) fill the sea. It’s amazing! You can hear them coming long before you see them, if you’re lucky to see them. You can hear their version of echo location when one turns around and looks up at me. This was such and amazing observation to watch. It has shown me a whole new side into the personalities of the falsies. 💙🐋
