ON THIS DAY: What a
#topsyturvy week this is turning out to be!! And a HUGE thank you to everyone that put some
#whaletokens out into the universe for us today, cause it worked! Today was
we had a ‘smorgasbord’ of whales (none were harmed and none were eaten). First up were #pilotwhales, then #spermwhales YES SPERM WHALES! , then #humpbackwhales !!! It’s a #turkey !!! A trio of whales #pinchme
The sperm whales are such a lucky encounter here. Today we found them scattered heading north. There was 1 here, 2 over there, another 1 here. So we tried and #BOOM we saw them. We saw a Mum and her calf and then 3 other singles. 1 was sleeping on the surface for a bit but still moving even though it’s eye was closed. Then it dove and dove deep. Sperm whales can hold their breath for an hour or more, so we were really lucky to find others to have a swim with, because waiting an hour means they could go anywhere 😬 Interestingly these sperm whales were not particularly very big, so maybe they were juveniles. Their small white eye surprisingly stands out amongst their white freckles and there teenee-tiny pec fins are so adorable like t-rex 🦖 arms 🤣 Gee they’re odd looking, especially since the back half of them is so wrinkly like they’ve been in the water too long and it’s time for them to get out 🤣 One of the singles we saw also had a white mouth like he’d just finished guzzling down a milkshake. Oh they were hilarious. So awesome to see. 🤗
Can’t wait for tomorrow 💙🐋 #itsawonderfulocean
