ON THIS DAY: Weeeeelllllllllll ORCAS!!! ❄️💙 We are finally here in the magical
#orcaland where it’s christmas everyday. It has been a hectic few days of prep and first practice day yesterday for our guests
so, I guess TODAY is officially the first real day out…. And OMG! What a great day to kick things off. It was open water today, a pod of around 15 orcas were heading towards the fjords, on a mission. They were travelling pretty fast but we still managed to do a number of drops with them and even take a break with a humpback mum and calf then back to the Orca pod.
Being able to observe the same pod for a couple hours was incredible. Noticing their behaviour, their movements, how the males position themselves and go around checkin g on on the family, its just so fascinating. I LOOOOVE being able to spend time with a group or individual rather than “whale hopping around”. The orcas were curious and flipped, and bellied up for us as they swam on. Their clicks, clacks and squeaks in the water is just #orcatastic , add a bass beat and it’s a tune you could definitely jive to.
The mum and calf 🐋humpback we swam with will be forever memorable for me. They were on their own so we dropped in and swam over to them. They both kept swimming by, I could just barely see their white pec fins BUT then the mum started to turn so I just kept swimming and just kept swimming. She pivoted around and came back towards us showing me her beautiful calf, stopped and watched me swim towards her as she very slowly turned again and continued on their way. OMG it was beautiful. She came over to greet us and check us out. Thank goodness cause it isn’t easy swimming like crazy with weight and wetsuit.
What a day. ❄️💙#magiclaorcawonderland Wish you were all here with us! Show some Orca love 💕
